A stroke is a medical condition when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, either due to blockage (ischaemic stroke) or due to the rupture of the blood vessels within the brain (haemorrhagic stroke). Different parts of the brain control different functions of the body. Hence, if the area of brain is affected by an extensive or a small stroke, it leads to a massive or small stroke, respectively.

Risk factor for stroke includes the pre-existing condition of high blood pressure or other blood vessels disease. Stroke can also associate with congenital conditions or behavioral activities such as smoking. In short, it is not necessary that only elderly are the stroke victims. Therefore, it is important to identify the signs of stroke attack.

If you have either one of the following symptoms, such as sudden numbness, confusion, trouble in seeing, trouble in walking (where you lost balance and coordination) or severe headache, you should also seek for emergency medical service immediately.
